The Candle Bar
Experiential Date Review \ Nashville, TN
Great Service:
What really stands out – in addition to our instructor being kind and pleasant – is the care that has been given to planning the workshop. This workshop eliminates the guesswork and facilitates a novice experience that produces professional results with ease!
Selection of Offerings:
With a wide variety of scents to choose from, as well as a selection of vessels, you can customize your candle(s) to suit your style. We especially appreciated that the workshop cost includes all the options, which makes it easy to make your selection based on what you love the most!
Environment:
A well-curated retail space combines with a spacious and modern studio serving as inspiration to create something beautiful. The atmosphere may vary slightly depending on how crowded it is, so it’s worth mentioning that we were there mid-day during the week and it was relatively quiet.
Originality:
The Candle Bar definitely gets points for being the first Pour-Your-Own-Candle experience we’ve heard about! Probably not the only one of its kind, but an uncommon concept, for sure.
Location:
There is more than one location in Nashville (as well is one in Charlotte, NC if you happen to be there), and we went to the Berry Hill location.
This area of town is one we haven’t explored much, but there seems to be fun options in the area, and we enjoying extending our date at Stay Golden – a restaurant and roastery next door offering specialty coffee, food and coffee.
This side-by-side, shared experience gives each of you the opportunity to make your own candle. You’ll each have your own station complete with all of your own tools, but collaboration is still an option if you want to explore the scents and vessels together and make selections based on combined preferences.
I don’t know that they’d turn you away if you showed up in yoga pants and a gym tee, buuut they do have aprons to protect your clothing, and it is a classy place, so you might be most comfortable in your favorite day-date attire.
Seats are $35 per person, so $70 for the two of you. After your pouring, candles can be picked up in about 3 hours, but can also be shipped at an additional cost of $8/candle. Budget for more if you plan to enjoy a beverage while you pour.
In Conclusion:
The Candle Bar was an awesome experience! Full disclosure – Mel knew she would love this date, but Kel wasn’t so convinced it was his thang. But he left exclaiming how much he truly enjoyed this time together.
Bonus – making a memory is what an experiential date is all about, and since scent is so closely tied to memories, every time we burn our candles, we can’t help but reminisce about the fun we had pouring them.
KEL AND MEL’S TIPS:
– Reservations are required. You may be sitting with others that you don’t know, but there is no minimum class size requirement, so as long as you’ve purchased your seats, you are guaranteed your pouring time.
– Find scents that you both enjoy!
_ In case you’re wondering, we chose “smoked birch” and “tobacco & moss”.)
Enjoy!
